A hostage situation reported in a Job Centre in Byker, Newcastle, Northern England. Police are negotiating with a knifeman who is reportedly holding staff hostages.
Police officers arrived at the scene, they try to negotiate with a man with a knife who is reportedly holding several members of staff of the Job Centre Plus as hostages.
Roads have been closed around the area as a precaution.
The public are advised to avoid the area.
Students reportedly evacuated from the nearby.
No reports of injuries for now.
