Germany never checked migrants for terrorists

Berlin, Germany. In the United States there were loud challenges to Donald Trump’s call for “extreme vetting” of refugees from Islamic war zones, now Germany is finding out the hard way why such vetting may actually be a critical part of the asylumn process.

It now appears thousands of former Taliban terrorists may have entered Germany over the past two years among an influx of more than a million migrants and refugees, Der Spiegel magazine reported on Saturday.

The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) informed security officials that thousands of migrants had identified themselves as former Taliban insurgents during the asylum application process, but German officials never took action or pursued the matter further.

Officials reported that at least 70 Afghan men were being investigated by Germany’s over-stretched chief federal prosecutor, though it was not clear whether all of them were suspected of being active Taliban terrorists, nor was it clear if any intensive vetting steps were taken to cull through the million plus refugees that have entered Germany over the last year.

The Merkel Administration is under fire for allowing in so many migrants, especially after several militant attacks linked to migrants last year and has recently been actively deporting groups of rejected Afghan asylum seekers ahead of Merkel’s re-election campaign this year.
