On the initiative of Republican Senator Rand Paul, the US Senate on March 15 canceled the consideration of the issue of Montenegro becoming a member of the North Atlantic Alliance. As the agency BNE IntelliNews reports, the discussion was postponed to a later date without specifying the exact date of consideration of this issue.
Senator Paul justified his position by the fact that the United States already has unbearable obligations to the allies.
“It is unreasonable to expand the financial and military obligations of the United States, given the presence of (our) debt of 20 trillion dollars”, said the senator.
