Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) militants have taken 150 locals captive in the Iraqi city of Fallujah in the western Anbar province, media reported Saturday.
According to Sky News Arabia, the captives were taken from their homes during an Daesh operation in the city.
The Daesh jihadist group, outlawed in a number of countries, including Russia, began to make major inroads in Iraq in June 2014 and has since taken control of large parts of the country.
Fallujah, located 42 miles west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, is one of the largest cities in the Anbar province. In July 2015, Iraqi troops launched a major offensive to liberate Fallujah from Daesh.
