Voting for constitutional amendment on status of Donbass scheduled for February 2

Voting for the amendment of the Constitution in terms of decentralisation and the norm of the «special status» of Donbass is scheduled for the morning of 2 February. It was announced by a MP from the Bloc Poroshenko who wished to remain anonymous.

He said that voting for amendments to the Constitution in terms of decentralisation was scheduled for the morning session of the Parliament on February 2 because only on that day was it possible to ensure the presence of the number of the MPs required for the adoption of the amendments.

On August 31, 2015, the Verkhovnaya Rada endorsed, in the first reading, a bill on the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning the decentralisation of power. 265 MPs voted for this decision. The adoption of the document went off with difficulties due to blocking the parliamentary rostrum. at the same time, after the voting, near the building of the Verkhovnaya Rada a grenade was exploded by some provocateurs.

Experts believe that, in the event of the failure of voting for the adoption of amendments to the Constitution, in the country there might erupt a political crisis.
