Anti-migrant attacks in Cologne linked to social media calls

A spate of attacks against migrants Sunday in Cologne appeared linked and came after social media calls for “evening strolls” that drew scores of people, many associated with the far-right scene, German police said.

Syrians, Pakistanis and African men were among the victims of assaults and mob attacks in the western city, which on New Year’s Eve had seen mass sexual assaults against women blamed on migrants. The far-right often refers to its marches as “strolls.”
