Syrian Army cuts strategic supply route for rebels in Sheikh Miskeen

On Friday afternoon in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 15th Brigade of the 5th Armored Division – in coordination with the SAA’s 7th Mechanized Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have seized a point along the strategic Sheikh Miskeen-Nawa Road, resulting in the obstruction of the Islamists second most important supply route in the province.

According to a military source at the 5th Armored Division’s headquarters in the city of Izra’a, the Syrian Armed Forces are currently progressing from two different axes, while to expand their control over several kilometers of territory in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside.

The cities of Sheikh Miskeen and Nawa are being targeted by the Syrian Arab Army’s 15th Brigade today; however, the latter city is still not within striking distance for the pro-government forces, as the imperative hilltop of Tal Hamad is currently providing the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) a comfortable buffer-zone.

Last week, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to impose fire control over Tal Hamad for a short period of time; unfortunately, they eventually had to withdraw because they were within striking distance of the Islamists artillery shells.
