Turkish ship detained in Poti for polluting the Black Sea

 

The Ministry of Environment of Georgia has reported about the detention of a ship in the port of Poti under the flag of Turkey, which is accused of dumping oil into the Black Sea. An instance of an action detrimental to marine ecology was recorded by the environmental surveillance and border guards.

 

According to Interfax, the ship’s captain is obliged to pay a fine of $27 thousand, and to repair the damage caused to sea. Only after that will the Turkish vessel be able to leave the territorial waters of Georgia.
