Putin: Russia’s plan for Ukraine will allow immediate cessation of fighting

Russia’s initiative to settle the conflict in Ukraine will make it possible to immediately stop fighting and move to negotiations. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In mid-June, we presented another settlement option, which, if the Ukrainian side and, most importantly, its Western sponsors are ready to accept it, would allow literally one-step, immediate cessation of hostilities, save human lives and start negotiations,” the president said at the SCO summit in Astana.

He also thanked the organisation’s participants for their proposals to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and said that Moscow would take them into account.

Earlier, Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping noted the importance of the presence of Russian representatives at the peace talks on Ukraine.
